Our Promise to You — and Yours to Us

Understanding What You're Ordering

Every flag made by Hewn & True Flag Co. is built from scratch, by hand, the moment your order is placed. There is no inventory. There is no shelf of finished flags waiting to be shipped. When you place an order, work begins — wood is selected, stripes are ripped to your flag's exact proportions, each one is hand hewn, hand carved, and hand distressed individually. The union is hand cut to size. Fifty stars are laid out, measured, and carved one at a time by chisel and gouge.

That process takes time, skill, and materials that cannot be recovered once the work begins.

Because of this, all sales are final.

No Returns. No Refunds. Here's Why.

A Hewn & True flag is not a product pulled from a warehouse. It is not mass produced. It is not made ahead of time and stocked in anticipation of your order. It is made for your order — built to your chosen size, your chosen series, and your chosen specifications — by one person, by hand, from the moment payment is received.

By the time your flag ships, it has absorbed hours of handwork that cannot be undone, resold, or repurposed. The wood has been cut. The stripes have been carved. The stars have been worked into the grain one by one. The flag is yours — and only yours — from the first chisel stroke.

For this reason, we are unable to offer returns, refunds, or exchanges under any circumstances once an order has been placed and payment has been received.

Before You Order

We want every customer to receive exactly what they hoped for. Before placing your order, please take a moment to:

Review your size selection carefully. All flag dimensions are listed on each product page. If you have questions about which size is right for your space, contact us before ordering — we are happy to help you choose.

Understand the nature of handmade work. Every Hewn & True flag is unique. The grain, the burn pattern, the hand-hewn texture, and the character of the wood will vary from flag to flag. No two flags are identical. This is not a defect — it is the nature of handcrafted work, and it is what makes each flag one of a kind.

Confirm your shipping address. Once an order ships, we cannot redirect packages. Please ensure your address is correct at checkout.

The One Exception — Damage in Transit

We take exceptional care in packaging every flag to ensure it arrives the way it left our shop. However, if your flag arrives damaged due to a shipping carrier error, we will make it right.

To file a damage claim:

  • Contact us within 48 hours of delivery

  • Provide your order number and clear photographs of the damage and the packaging it arrived in

  • We will review the claim and, at our sole discretion, either repair, replace, or issue a partial credit for flags confirmed to be damaged in transit

Damage claims submitted after 48 hours of confirmed delivery cannot be accepted. Hewn & True Flag Co. is not responsible for damage resulting from improper installation, outdoor exposure, or wear after delivery.

Cancellations

Because work begins at the time of order, cancellations are not guaranteed. If you need to cancel an order, contact us immediately. Cancellations requested before any materials have been cut may be honored at our discretion. Cancellations requested after work has begun will not be accepted, and no refund will be issued.

A Final Word

We put everything we have into every flag we make. The hours behind each one are real. The craft is real. The care is real. We ask that you read this policy carefully and order with confidence and intention — the same intention we bring to every flag that leaves our shop.

If you have any questions before placing your order, please reach out. We would rather answer ten questions before you order than have any misunderstanding after.

Every flag is final. Every flag is worth it.
