some things shouldn’t be made by machines

The flag is one of them.

Hewn & True Flag Co. was founded by a retired police officer who spent 30 years in law enforcement serving his community in every capacity the job demanded, and who understood in a way that isn't academic what it costs some people to keep that flag flying. His father served in the United States Army.

That understanding never left him.

When he retired, he didn't walk away from service — he redirected it. He picked up a chisel. He started working wood. And he made a decision that shapes every flag that leaves this shop: if it carries the American flag, or honors the people who serve under it, it will be made entirely by hand. No machines. No shortcuts. No exceptions.

Every flag is built personally, by the founder himself. Not a team. Not a production line. One person, one flag at a time. Every stripe is ripped to the true proportions of the American flag, then hand hewn, hand carved, and hand distressed individually. Every star is chisel-cut by hand — sized to its exact proportional diameter, spaced to the official arrangement, carved one at a time until all fifty are earned. The union is hand cut to its precise proportional height and width. Every measurement traces back to the official U.S. flag specification.

He does it this way because he believes the flag — and the people it represents — deserve that level of care. Not the care of a machine following a file. The care of hands that know what the flag means, because they lived it.

His father wore a uniform. He wore a uniform. He builds flags for the people still wearing one — and for the families who love them.

No machines. No shortcuts. No one else's hands but his.
